Digital Storytelling

     Hello and welcome back! I have a new experience to talk to you about. As we're approaching the end of the semester, we have a few assignments left, one of which is "digital storytelling". In this assignment, we were given several options and all of them were group tasks. I chose to work with Ebru and Hüdaye, and we agreed on the option of creating a fictional story.


     We created a ghost story and made the illustrations on a website called Pixton. This was very helpful tool as there was a big selection of costumes and hair for character design as well as body poses, face expressions and props for storytelling. It was quite easy to use, too.

    Then, after recording our voices too, we created the video on Canva. For a video maker on the web, it was pretty good. For the soundtrack and sound effects, we used the website MixKit. The free options on there were more than enough for our video.

    So far, this has been the most fun I've had on a project in this course. For learners, this is not only a fun task, but also one that integrates several skills of a language. For me, the most fun part was exploring the tools we used, especially the one we used for the illustrations.

My Experience With Podcasting

  Welcome back! I'll be talking about my first podcast exparience in this post. The teacher assigned us to make a podcast and gave us 4 options. I picked the one that could be done individually, which is called "improving the world". We were supposed to come up with an idea to improve the world and present it in exactly 60 seconds.   After listening to the examples from  BBC and checking out the titles, I came up with my own idea and how to present it. My idea was to limit the number of residents in each city. I wrote a text and read it aloud a few times. Then i recorded my voice, which took a lot of tries. I uploaded the recording to a site called  Anchor and added a background music there. The site allows you to upload the finished work directly to Spotify . A Corpus Project

Welcome Back! After a year, I am back to tell you about a new assignment I've done in a new course. In this course, Current Issues in ELT, we were supposed to create a corpus-based teaching material as a part of our final grade. So, I partnered up with İrem Çınar and we chose to design a material on "will" and "be going to" in English. Our objective, with this material, was to help students make the distinction between the use of these two items and our target audience was high school students. We focused on the functions and asked the students to pay attention to it during their corpus research. We designed the material simultaneously, using Canva .  See you next time!
